The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. The expected ENTRY pay range is $14.75 to $17.60 per hour, based on qualifying experience and equity within Maricopa County. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As a Library Assistant for our
Gila Bend Library
, you will provide routine customer service, service routing, and clerical work for the library. Your role will be essential in guiding our customers to explore and use library services.

We Require
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Identity Verified Print (IVP) fingerprint clearance card, upon hire
-
Two years of customer service experience OR an equivalent combination of post-secondary education/experience to substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value

Associate’s degree or higher in Library Science, English, Liberal Arts, or a related field

Experience working or volunteering in a public library

Bilingual skills in Spanish and English
Job Contributions
-
Issue, verify, and renew library cards and inform customers of their account status
-
Resolve customer concerns by phone, in person, or e-mail and refer escalated customer concerns to appropriate staff members or supervisors

Assist customers with the self-service payment kiosk and answer reference questions

Process library materials for shelving and routing and assist with maintenance and display of the collection
-
Light cleaning duties, such as dusting, straightening, and bathroom tidying
-
Initiate search for materials claimed as returned
Working Conditions

Library environment on a K-12 campus with evening and weekend availability
-
Ability to cover shifts at nearby library branches
-
Ability lift up to 20 pounds floor-to-waist; lift up to 5 pounds waist-to-shoulder, lift 1 pound shoulder-to-overhead, carry up to 10 pounds a distance of up to 50 feet, and push/pull up to 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet
