General Job Description
Assists the Branch Manager in the daily operation of the Library branch and assists the Youth Services Librarians in providing services to children, youth, parents, and caregivers. Performs circulation duties and assists Library customers. Provides educational services to children.
Duties for this Position
- Performs circulation tasks such as checking in/out library materials, checking in courier delivery, collecting fines, issuing new cards, pulling holds, and processing new books and periodicals
- Performs customer service tasks such as answering the phone, answering directional questions, and assisting customers in the library
- Serves as acting manager in the Branch Manager’s absence
- Provides library services including readers’ advisory, answering reference questions, assisting customers with computers and copier, helping customers find print and digital materials, and planning and implementing programs
- Provides children’s services including classes, events, and outreach
- Shelves materials and assists in collection management
- Assists with virtual programming planning and production
- Performs other clerical duties as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Position Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree supplemented by three to five years of library experience, or an equivalent of education, training, and experience
- Exemplary customer service skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and office equipment
- Must be able to pass required pre-employment physical and background check
