YAI has an opening for a Facilitator to work in our Transition to Independence Program’s Life Skills program and Ballet Yoga program.
The two groups will be virtual for the 2023 Spring Semester. However, the program will likely be in-person for the future semester.
The Facilitator will report directly to the Program Director. The Facilitator position provides the opportunity to gain exposure and experience working directly with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and lead group activities and discussions aligned with program curriculum.
YAI’s Transition to Independence program offers group training for persons ages 17 to 21 on the Autism Spectrum to gain valuable life skills to help them become more independent. This program consists of three groups including Yoga Mindfulness, Life Skills, and Kitchen Skills. Participants can choose between the three groups, going to as many or as few as they like. The group staffing ratio is around 2:8, with one facilitator and one support staff serving up to eight participants. Group sessions will occur once a week for eight weeks in the winter and eight weeks in the spring. A total of 16 weeks per fiscal year. The duration of the group is 1.5 hours in the evening and the group will be virtual for the Spring 2023 session. Spring 2023 groups start on 3/9/2023 and will run every Thursday from 3:30pm-5pm for 16 weeks.
Life Skills Facilitator Key Responsibilities:
  • Must be available every Thursday starting 3/9/23 from 3:30pm-5pm for 16 weeks.
  • Must be reliable, have excellent attendance, and must be punctual.
  • Must be communicative with Program Director as needed.
  • Ensure proper implementation of program curriculum.
  • Ensure a safe and structured environment.
  • Engage multiple participants with varying levels of verbal abilities and support needs in group discussions.
  • Moderate and lead group discussions as per the program curriculum.
  • Manage various personalities and be respectful to all participants, family members and coworkers.
  • Be able to take initiative and be creative in group activities.
  • Ensure proper group setup prior to group starting and clean up at the end of the group.
  • Keep accurate attendance of group participants.
  • Complete accurate and detailed case notes and service summaries in a timely manner.
YAI’s Ballet Yoga program teaches dance, yoga, and socialization skills in a small group structure for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Children are offered opportunities to engage in creative movement, social integration, and sensory integration, while focusing on improved balance, coordination, strength, and attention. We are seeking experienced staff to provide support to participants and assist in maintaining a safe, structured environment. YAI's Ballet-Yoga group works with persons age 4 to 10. Groups usually have 8 people enrolled. The 2023 Spring Semester starts on 3/6/23 and runs every Monday from 4pm-5pm for 14 weeks.
Ballet Yoga Support Staff Key Responsibilities:
  • Must be available every Monday starting 3/6/23 from 4pm-5pm for 14 weeks.
  • Assists with implementing curriculum
  • Assists with set up and break down each class
  • Provide support to participants at the direction of the lead or co-lead teacher
  • Comfortable working with multiple children of different ages simultaneously
  • Takes initiative in engaging children
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Reports to program Director
Education and Experience:
  • BA/BS or higher
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with people with I/DD preferred
