REPORT TO:
Food Service Director
ESSENTIAL JOB:
1. Prepare food daily as outlined on the weekly menu plan.
Hours:
Saturday: 7 am to 6 pm
Sunday: 7 am to 6 pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.. Assist with menu planning; review and adjust menus with to accommodate foods in season, vendor sale prices, special events and holidays.
2. Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dietary needs of residents or to improve recipes. Recipes should be prepared with little or no added sodium (salt).
3. Identify food and supplies needed for the next week's menus and report to the Food Service Director
4. Maintain a written inventory of dry goods, refrigerated and frozen foods, non-food supplies, dishes and utensils.
5. Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery; ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients. Supervise rotation of stored items. Date items upon delivery.
6. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe kitchen environment.
7. Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
8. Ensure compliance with regulations.
9. Coordinate and participate in serving and plating of food.
10. Monitor portion control to meet residents' requests and minimize waste.
11. Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
12. Notify Administrator of malfunction of equipment or appliances.
13. Train, supervise and assign work to Dietary Aides in the food service program.

1. Full command of the English language i.e. reading and writing
2. First Aid & CPR EXPECTATIONS
3. Fire and safety procedures
4. State food-handling and kitchen regulations
5. Operation of kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer, etc.) and office equipment (photocopier, telephone)
6. OSHA-MSDS sheets and procedures
WORKING::
1. Lifting, pushing or pulling up to 30 lbs.
3. Heated/Air-conditioned, well-lit facility with minimal barriers
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Commercial cooking experience preferred or domestic cooking experience with large groups
2. Enjoy working with older adults
3. Certificate in food-preparation training preferred
4. experience preferred
5. High school diploma or GED required, with reading, comprehension and writing ability at a 12th-grade level or higher
STANDARDS
1. Residents always come first, and their needs will be met unless there is a conflict with the needs of others or the organization as a whole.
2. Employees will not work under the influence of mood-altering or illegal drugs or alcohol.
3. Neat appearance, adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene are expected.
4. Must be available for all training and in-service sessions.
