POSITION DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Living Room Cocktail Server

DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage

REPORTS TO: Living Room Manager

Summary

The Server will collaborate with the service and culinary team to ensure a unique experience for our patrons.

The focus of this role will be providing food and beverage service to our guests and customers, using a friendly and professional demeanor. This role will contribute by executing all aspects of the Front of House service to achieve operational and managerial goals.

Essential Functions

Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Sets up side stations and performs assigned prep work
  • Provides immediate attention to all guests upon seating
  • Fills glasses with water, while receiving other drink requests
  • Have complete knowledge of all cocktail and food menu items, including ingredients, preparation, and garnishments
  • Suggest recommendations and menu items to the guests’ interest
  • Record guest orders and place orders through the Point of Sale (Infogenesis) system; notifying bartenders and Kitchen Team of any special instructions
  • Efficiently serve food and drinks in in adherence to The Dewberry’s upscale service standards and food handling procedures
  • Ensure guest satisfaction upon receiving food and replenish all items as necessary
  • Remove soiled dishes after each course
  • Drive revenue by using suggestive selling techniques
  • Verify the accuracy of the bill and present it to the patrons
  • Handle all cash and credit card charges as prescribed by The Dewberry Standards, Policies, and Procedures
  • Provide guests with a friendly farewell, inviting them to return
  • Maintains dining room areas and bus stations in a clean, organized, and sanitary manner
  • Helps clear, clean, and reset vacated tables
  • Provide solutions to guest complaints and escalate to management as necessary
  • Attend pre-service training (line-up meeting)
  • Turn in daily of shift receipts to the Manager on Duty
  • Follow local and state laws and the Dewberry’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages to guests


Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED
  • One-year high volume, fine dining restaurant service experience preferred
  • Food Safety Certification preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of all state and federal safety standards related to food service
  • Ability to multi-task and complete assigned tasks to ensure a smooth service.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent verbal communication
  • Dependable work ethic with a positive attitude
  • Must exude punctuality with regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) and walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach
  • Ability to push, pull or lift up to fifty pounds
  • Continuous repetitive motions
  • Ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy environment
