Where You Will Work:

Clearwater Paper’s Las Vegas facility produces through-air-dried (TAD) ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, facial tissue, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Located within the Mojave Desert, North Las Vegas sits just northeast of Las Vegas as the 4th largest city in the state of Nevada. Recently completed Southern Nevada’s Neon to Nature regional trail system includes 10 miles used for hiking, biking, and leisurely strolls. What You Will Do:

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for ensuring all production equipment related to the Converting lines are operating at maximum capacity and meeting efficiency targets. The Maintenance Lead is responsible for planning and execution of daily activities, coordinating with Planners, other Maintenance Leads, and the Operations team.

  • Plan and prioritize daily work for the maintenance team by working with Converting leaders and Maintenance Planners
  • Direct Maintenance Technicians in daily operations of the maintenance department, ensuring they have the necessary skills to be effective
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement. Assist and coordinate continuous improvement projects such as 5S and kaizen events
  • Observe key performance indicators and quality of work through TPM and daily equipment interactions
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems including machine operational support and training
  • Advise Equipment Operators of SOP and SMP procedures while down work is being performed
  • Schedule and facilitate business unit start-up meetings
  • Communicate and track key performance indicators, sign off on qualification card levels, verify and approve time records in Kronos
  • Provide training to Maintenance department staff for development
  • Provide on-call support as needed for the facility
  • Hold self and others to high safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE, fire extinguisher locations, eye wash station, proper use of hand tools and equipment, etc.)
  • Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate the root cause
  • Conduct monthly Leadership Safety Observations

What You Will Need:

To be successful in this position, we are looking for candidates with the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
  • Previous maintenance technician experience (required)
  • Associate Degree, Vocational Degree, or Apprenticeship program preferred
  • Understanding of LEAN manufacturing, Continuous Improvement (CI), and Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) concepts
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confine spaces, personal protective equipment, etc.) (required)
  • Welding and machining (preferred)
  • Able to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings required
  • Able to use a variety of measuring instruments (required)
  • Understanding of fluid transfer (required)
  • Microsoft Office products, JDE work entry, Client Workflow, Process Map, Refrigerant tracker, etc. (preferred)
  • Forklift/Clamp truck certified (required)
  • Industrial motor controls and troubleshooting (required)
  • Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
  • Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
  • Able to lift, up to 40 lbs frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs minimally. When lifting 50 lbs and above, Operator will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
  • Able to wear and comply with all personal protective equipment (Eye and ear protection, steel toed shoes, etc.)
  • This is an 8-hour shift position from 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday. Able to work overtime as needed. Able to be on call as needed to support a 24/7 operation.
