The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for an Industrial Maintenance & Repair Painter at our San Benito Foods facility in Hollister, CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.


Summary
: Performs project work in manufacturing plant, warehouse and office building interiors and exteriors for painting and associated work in accordance with internal requirements and standard operating procedures. This is a non-exempt, union position.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and determines requirements for preparing and painting interior and exterior areas of the plant and associated buildings and equipment.
  • Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old paint using paint removers, scrapers, wire brushes, or blowtorches; may perform minor repairs and restoration of surfaces as needed; fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using a caulking gun, putty knife or other application tool.
  • Applies paint, varnishes, stains and other coatings to interior and exterior surfaces with brush, roller, sprayer or other tools; sets up and removes scaffolding; positions scissor lifts, basket lifts, ladders and other equipment.
  • Prepares estimates of work time and cost as required or assigned.
  • Ensures appropriate handling and disposal of materials in accordance with federal and state safety and environmental requirements.


Requirements
:

  • High School diploma; or, any equivalent combination of training, experience and education that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • 4 years’ experience in industrial painting for a manufacturing facility or contractor.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain forklift certification.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills; bilingual preferred (English and Spanish).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours and weekends during the fresh pack season (typically July – late September), and able to lift up to 50 lbs.


Compensation:

The hourly union wage is $29.88.
