Maintains the grounds, building, and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Organizes and assists with the operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with and as may be instructed by the Executive Director.

Duties
1. Inspects storage rooms, workrooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
2. Oversees company vehicle maintenance.
3. Completes regular day trips to customer facilities to repair medication carts. A company vehicle is used for these day trips.
4. Ensures that outside services are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders.
5. Assists with safety and fire protection and prevention programs by inspecting work areas and equipment at least weekly.
6. Maintains established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
7. Ensures that all personnel wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies when lifting or moving heavy objects.
8. Inspects supplies, equipment, etc., to ensure that all are maintained to provide a safe and comfortable environment.
9. Assumes the responsibility for obtaining/maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for hazardous chemicals in the maintenance department.
10. Ensures that containers of hazardous chemicals in the department are properly labeled and stored.
11. Complies with maintenance policies on the use labels and MSDSs to recognize hazards and to follow appropriate protective measures.
12. Ensures that maintenance personnel follow established policies governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious wastes.
13. Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents.
14. Conducts periodic rounds to check equipment and to assure that necessary equipment is available and working properly.
15. Checks supply rooms and work areas to assure that needed supplies are readily available to perform assigned tasks.
16. Ensures that appropriate personal protective equipment used in the handling of infectious materials is available and easily accessible to maintenance personnel.
17. Ensures that equipment contaminated with blood or other infectious material is properly labeled or tagged before being sent for repair or decontamination.
18. Ensures that the grounds, landscaping, parking areas etc., are maintained in a neat, safe and effective manner.
19. Ensures that equipment is maintained in good working order.
20. Performs repairs as needed and/or appropriate on equipment, building and grounds.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

• One (1) to three (3) years building or maintenance experience in a healthcare, senior living industry or longterm care environment preferred.
• Computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
