Maintenance Technician Job at The Maschhoffs

This position is responsible for general repairs and maintenance on company owned and leased assets. These would include but not limited to Breed-to-Wean sow farms and offices. This position would have on call responsibilities.

  • Report progress to management on a routine basis
  • Complete detailed one trip material list and needs for assigned work orders
  • Diagnose and provide plausible solutions for electrical, ventilation, and other facility challenges that arise throughout the facilities.
  • Complete tasks efficiently, safely and thoroughly using best management practices.
  • Ensure that all the best management practices are consistent with commonly accepted standards for animal welfare.
  • Ensure that routine maintenance work is conducted in a manner that safeguards the environment and maintains regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate and closely align with farm managers and staff to deliver best in class quality products and workmanship. Provide assistance to develop and train other Maintenance Technicians with various skill sets.
  • Promote safe work habits and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Develop a weekly work schedule for the maintenance team for alignment with health and production.
  • Manage the work order system, prioritizing open work orders to resolve the most important issues first but not losing track of lesser priority issues.

Knowledge of:

  • Electrical, plumbing, and ventilation systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fuse boxes and electrical testing equipment
  • Operating and servicing equipment, i.e. tractors, skidders, grinders and ATV’s

  • Work on rotating weekend shifts\ 24-7 on call
  • Maintain Confidentiality
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Execute mechanical repairs on (but not limited to) feed motors, gearboxes, fan motors, belts and bearings, feed line augers, boar bots and mortality removal equipment
  • Work overhead while standing on a ladder
