Job Purpose:
The Vice President Operations-East will partner with the Company’s senior management team and branch locations to execute the Company’s business plans by providing appropriate operational efficiencies, advisor services, and negotiation skills. Oversee the management of all branch day-to-day operations for locations as it relates to operational, transportation and employee issues. Oversee branch performance in alignment with KPI’s and financial performance. This position will oversee Warehouse and Transportation operations.

East Branch Locations:
Detroit, MI, Cleveland, OH, Atlanta, GA, Orlando, FL & Miami, FL.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop the strategic vision to achieve best practice supply chain performance. Clearly communicate that vision, translate it into an execution plan, and effectively lead the supply chain team and cross functional partners to deliver the goals and objectives of the plan.
  • Develop and refine specific strategies for fast, efficient product movement from the vendor to the customer. Implement these strategies in the context of the company’s overall plan to optimize the integrated supply chain, enabling business improvement in the areas of availability, cost, inventory, turns, COGS, quality, and speed to market.
  • Oversee all east region branch distribution center operations in alignment with operational KPI’s for safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost and efficiency. Ensure visible performance against KPI’s are present in branch locations.
  • Review P/L monthly for each branch by areas of responsibility, take corrective actions as needed.
  • Identify and lead productivity improvement projects to deliver service level and bottom-line improvements.
  • Oversee individual inventories concern levels, age and movement working with General Managers and Purchasing department.
  • Assist Transportation management with daily operational issues (e.g. route optimization, hours control, equipment needs, compliance and reporting) and oversee related accidents, including investigations in determining cause and effect, employee welfare, and DOT compliance.
  • Liaison with Human Resources and all branch General Managers as needed.
  • Oversee USDA audits and compliance, assist in determining cause and effect, take corrective actions as needed.
  • Negotiate and manage all third-party cold storage leasing agreements with local team.
  • Audit branch safety and housekeeping compliance.
  • Coach and develop management team, build succession planning.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 10+ years of multi-site distribution experience in the food distribution industry is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in management, business, marketing, or relevant field is a plus.
  • 7+ years’ experience within a distribution center, logistics or supply chain environment
  • Significant experience in perishable food distribution, food /foodservice sales, or related spaces.
  • Previous accounting, budgeting, and P/L management experience required.
  • Proficient in relevant computer applications such as MS Office Suite.
  • Up to 40% travel as needed.
