Working closely with the Sr. Manager of Platform Engineering, Aya Healthcare is seeking a high-performing Manager of Cloud Engineering. This is a hands-on management role who will help drive the next generation of cloud services at Aya. This individual will be responsible for leading our Cloud Engineering team to build, maintain, automate, secure, and monitor all aspects of our Azure cloud infrastructure.

This is a senior level position on our Platform Engineering Team and consists of both Azure Infrastructure and on-premises Network management. The ideal candidate has a high level of experience in Azure virtual data center engineering, operation, and design, is comfortable with all areas of Azure IaaS and PaaS including but not limited to servers, storage accounts, NSGs, WAF, Azure Firewall, CDN, log/monitors, SQL, Azure DevOps, Application Gateways, App Services, DNS, Traffic Manager, Azure AD, Conditional Access, telemetry, and performance metrics. Strong experience with Cisco switching, routing, and Meraki wireless hardware and related configuration, deployment, maintenance, and monitoring are also essential.

This position will involve leading and closely mentoring a team of cloud engineers- facilitating knowledge transfer, socializing best practices, and refining our operational processes. The ability to multi-task, while maintaining priorities, structure, and organization, is essential in this position. Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the cloud engineering team at Aya Healthcare by providing guidance, promoting efficiency, productivity, innovation, and knowledge-sharing
  • Contribute to IT strategy & roadmap as it pertains to Azure cloud services
  • Recommend and design improvements or new solutions in Microsoft Azure
  • Regularly evaluate cloud applications, designs, monitoring, performance, and security best practices to improve the overall operation and performance of our cloud platform.
  • Work within a cross-functional team(s) of Cloud Engineers, DBAs, Engineering, and DevOps teams to specify, design, develop, test, and implement cloud services and solutions
  • Work closely with internal and external business partners to gather requirements, design, and implement solutions, manage technical operations, and triage and resolve operational issues
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for multiple environments
  • Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current technology trends and best practices
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell and automation scripts to support the Azure environment
  • Assist in providing resource, effort, and cost measurements
  • Collaboratively plan, implement, and maintain Azure cloud-based solutions with a focus on networking, virtual servers, web applications, databases, storage, and security
  • Work with SQL DBA team to build and maintain enterprise scale SQL environments and assist performance fine tuning
  • Set up telemetry (logs, metrics, and events) on production systems to create continuous real-time feedback mechanisms, providing insights to the support and development teams (the next generation architecture) – including Metrics reporting and Dashboard creation
  • Handle and address requests to the Engineering group for configuration changes, permissions/access based on current policy & procedure
  • Make recommendations to the DevOps & development teams on areas related to the reliability, maintainability, availability, security, and performance of the system as well as efficiency of the team
  • Perform root cause analysis and work to implement preventative measures
  • Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace with competing priorities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 5+ years in a technical lead/project/management role
  • 5+ years designing and building platforms in Azure Cloud or similar Cloud native offerings
  • 10+ years in a Systems or Network Engineering role
  • CCNA/CCNP certification highly preferred
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (build, deploy, test) – preferably Azure DevOps Pipelines and/or GitHub Actions
  • Experience designing, building, and supporting integrated build and release (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., testing approaches, artifact management, environment management, etc.)
  • Experience with of one or more scripting languages such as: PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI, ARM Templates, Terraform
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure Kubernetes Service is a plus
  • Experience implementing and managing a SIEM solution
  • Experience with cloud based APM and monitoring tools such as DataDog, NewRelic, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace
  • Experience with automated Change Management and related methodologies
  • Experience with advanced project management principles such as SCRUM, AGILE, sprints, and expertise with Atlassian Jira a plus
  • Expert analytical/quantitative, problem-solving, and deductive reasoning skills, with demonstrated experience performing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex technical issues
  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, SSL/TLS and distributed networks. Should be able to understand overall VLAN design, ACL rules, route tables, firewall rules, and switch/router configuration
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills and ability to work either independently or in a team environment to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely
  • Experience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships through trust and diplomacy

Compensation: Aya reasonably anticipates the pay scale for this position to be an annual salary of $170,000 to $210,000.

The pay scale for this position may vary if applicant possesses experience outside of what Aya reasonably anticipates for this position. Bonuses are subject to the role and your manager’s discretion.
