The Manager, Corporate Events and Travel plays an integral role in bringing the KDP portfolio to life in conjunction with our key brand and event objectives. The position supports all events (incentives, meetings, and sponsorships) in addition to developing streamlined financial plans and managing hotel sourcing initiatives. This role reports to and supports the Director of Corporate Events and Travel in defining, managing, and maintaining a rhythm of the business (RoB) that drives execution of core business priorities and encourages best practice sharing. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 10 years of event planning, project management experience along with a leadership style that infuses inspiration with a passion for making an impact.
This role requires strong personal initiative, accountability, a drive to seek new ideas, and the ability to approach an event with a strategic lens. An ideal candidate will actively seek to contribute to a best-in-class team on a daily basis and demonstrates high personal levels of judgment, drive and influence.
This role is based at our new Frisco, TX headquarters, with limited travel required.
Project Management:
  • Takes lead role for projects, coordinating the efforts of others planning members and often collaborating cross-functionally with internal stakeholders such as sales, marketing, legal, risk, etc.
  • High level ability to change communication styles to be most effective in a given situation that leads to achieving goals that are best suited for all parties
  • Ability to identify and prioritize critical projects/tasks and keep team on task to meet deadlines
  • Ability to explain plans/ideas in motivational terms and persuade others of the benefits of recommendation; demonstrates that potential objections have been taken into consideration and addressed proactively
Event Operational Skills:
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the event management industry, including working with sponsorship partners, hotels, F&B vendors, AV vendors, transportation providers, international destinations/suppliers and understands the workings of Corporate Travel.
  • Plan various facets of events which may include managing and executing sourcing, RFP’s, negotiations, site inspections, contracting, program communications, F&B, transportation, VIP requirements, registration, audio/visual production, product/brand provisioning, and post event evaluation process, etc.
  • Evaluate and recommend program structure changes or enhancements for continuous improvement.

Leadership:
  • Manage, train, coach and develop 1-2 direct report(s), as well as program teams across the Corporate Events and Travel Department.
  • Manage and communicate departmental objectives, priorities, and expectations.
  • Provide continuous coaching and mentoring support.
  • Collaborate and implement individual developmental plans with specific measurable, achievable, and competitive goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress on business and developmental objectives.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and training initiatives for direct report(s).
  • Responsible for driving new behaviors and culture – supporting a performance-driven culture.
  • Maintain department morale, effectiveness, and quality of work.

Financial Acumen:
  • Work with accounting and finance partners on anticipate spend and accruals across all programs
  • Understands the value of all elements within a budget, so that elements can be changed or removed based on their priority to the event or project
  • Ability to analyze and document deviations in financials, and recognize when they require visibility/escalation

Technology:
  • Develop deep relationships with technology partners and suppliers that can be leveraged for competitive advantage of successful partnership elements and activation.
  • Serve as liaison for team to fully utilize technology as a resource and have standardized approach to event planning and registration.
  • Seek out ways to increase operating efficiencies with vendor/partner negotiations, effective budget management and ongoing process/tool assessment.
  • Ensure all corporate requirements are met and cost savings realized wherever possible.

Requirements:

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10-15 years’ experience in Corporate Events, Sourcing, and strong Financial Acumen
  • Prior experience with Cvent
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills with different management levels
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills
  • Negotiation experience
