Overview:
The Director of Volunteer Services provides leadership and direction to the Volunteer Services department, as well as CentraState Healthcare System Volunteers in support of our mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops, implements, and maintains an exemplary and meaningful volunteer program
  • Recruits, interviews, selects, orients, and schedules volunteers at CentraState Medical Center, Applewood Estates, The Manor Rehabilitation, and Monmouth Crossing, Route 33 offices and the Family Medicine Center.
  • Partners with hospital managers to assess, forecast, and provide appropriate supplemental services to hospital departments in support of our mission.
  • Participates in system wide initiatives by providing advice and counsel in areas of expertise and working on committees as assigned.
  • Develops strong partnerships with external community organizations to create volunteer opportunities that are meaningful and sought-after by volunteer applicants who want to serve their community or fulfilling specific learning objectives in healthcare professions.
  • Develops and implements processes that enable Volunteer Services to effectively and efficiently recruit and retain volunteers from various sources
  • Represents CentraState in public meetings and presentations to the community
  • Prepares the operating budget for the department and manages operational expenses to this budget.
  • Provides financial oversight for departmental financial transactions, explanations, and accruals
  • Develops and reports metrics, including recruitment goals, demand fulfillment, volunteer hours, etc.
  • Works with department managers to coordinate performance evaluation process for volunteers
  • Ensures the volunteer experience is easy to access, meaningful to the volunteer, and productive.
  • Coordinates recognition, special events and activities for volunteers
  • Supports CentraState’s consistent and exceptional patient, family and staff experience.
  • Benchmarks and develops best practices for volunteer services
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or relevant field with minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience managing volunteers in a healthcare environment. Experience in hospital or healthcare volunteer services strongly preferred.
  • Successful candidate will possess strong communication (written and oral), customer service, organizational and time management skills. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software required; Voltrak volunteer management system experience preferred. Flexibility, patience, adaptability to change, strategic thinking, and innovation are essential to success in this role.
  • Competency in human resource management principles, HIPAA, and healthcare regulations (such as The Joint Commission) related to volunteer services are also necessary.
