Overview:

AutoNation is a leader in automotive retail and a Fortune 200 Company. We are on an aggressive growth strategies and are in immediate need for an Human Resources Business Partner in Northern California. This position is responsible for all locations in the Bay Area and Roseville with the primary office location in Fremont, California.


The Human Resources Business Partner provides human resources support in multiple areas inclusive associate engagement, talent development and leadership coaching. This position is the primary business partner to the Market President and store General Managers.


Base Salary Range from $75,000 to $84,000. Target Compensation (Base + Bonus) Range from $90,000 to $100,800. Bonus is paid quarterly.


Organizational Relationships:


This position will report directly to the Region VP of HR or Sr. Region HR Manager, and will be the primary interface with the assigned dealerships, Region HR and Payroll/SRC teams.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Monitors associate engagement and evaluates trends. Provides input on store action plans to drive engagement.
  • Monitors the status of associates on leaves of absence, including workers compensation, and facilitates their return to work.
  • Works closely with Region HR team to ensure the proactive identification and resolution of Associate relations issues.
  • Conduct investigations in response to a range of employee relations concerns, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze employee relations trends with Leadership and help develop proactive strategies, solutions, programs and policies
  • Meets with department managers at all assigned dealerships regarding associate productivity, retention and coaching.
  • Ensures dealership level compliance with AutoNation standardized HR processes, procedures and approval requirements, as well as addresses policy related questions.
  • Follows up on performance improvement plans and works with Region HR on any compliance issues.
  • Promote positive employee relations throughout the organization to ensure a high level of employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Serves as the liaison with other departments, dealerships, Region and/or Corporate in the resolution of HR-related issues.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Company’s Vision, Mission, and Values in all interactions with customers, co-workers and partners.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and safety standards.
  • Ability to travel 60% of the role.


Qualifications Mandatory:

  • Minimum 2-3 years multi-site HR-related experience.
  • In-depth understanding of HR processes and HR-related regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
  • Customer focused with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to professionally address Associate relations issues, while protecting confidential information.
  • Highly organized, with ability to manage multiple tasks and perform in a fast paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS office software – MS Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and Outlook.


Qualifications Preferred:

  • HR generalist experience in a multi-unit retail or automotive environment
  • College degree


Physical Requirements:

  • Requires some travel between corporate headquarters and offsite locations call center.
  • Work in an office environment often requiring long periods of time at a computer.
