Job Description Summary
Experienced Master Tailor who can interpret designer sketches and technical drawings into a fitting costume before first Dress Rehearsal.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced Tailor with a minimum of ten (10) years experience.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Consults with Costume Designer, adapts designs for costumes, or copies existing design from research for costumes.
Alters costumes and joins parts with existing stock and new designs, using needle and thread or sewing machine, to form finished costume.
Draws individual patterns or alters existing pattern to fit actors measurements.
Sews buttons and buttonholes to finish costume.
Presses costumes, using hand iron or pressing machine.
Confers with designer to determine type of material and garment style desired.
Positions pattern of costume parts on fabric and cut fabric along outline using scissors.
Adjusts costume fit after designers first fitting.

Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or higher.
Experience in the theatre industry, in an educational setting, in a related field in wardrobe/makeup area in film/television, or experience in the Technical Fashion industry.
Hands on industry professional experience is highly desired.
