SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Transport incoming and outgoing materials to designated areas as assigned. Operate forklift, electrical hoist or other power driven equipment to load or move materials. Supply production area with needed materials from inventory. Load or unload material onto or from pallets, trays, or shelves. Process required paperwork. Work in cooperation with others to insure production of quality products.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
  • Move controls to drive propane or electric-powered forklift trucks and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.
  • Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Weigh materials or products, and record weight and other production data on tags or labels.
  • Load, unload, or stack containers, materials, or products.
  • Operate packaging or banding machine or equipment.
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment. Accurately scan material, inserts and finished product to a location using a forklift or hand cart.
  • Inspect product load for accuracy, and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.
  • Knowledge of materials and IQMS system. Monitor IQMS to stay informed of job and material changes. Complete IQ transactions for material.
  • Maintain 6S activities that have been established.
  • Conduct accurate inventory transactions for all materials and packaging as needed. Assist technicians in pulling materials in a timely manner.
  • Keep walkways clear. Report weights of any discarded material to the Supervisor/Lead Technician.
  • Communicate with material handlers on other shifts on a daily basis.
  • Make sure all materials are labeled properly and accurately scanned to a location.
  • Assist with set up, quality audits, or operate machines to make parts or products.
  • Read work order, instructions, formulas, or processing charts.
  • Maintain production or work records.
  • Look parts up in inventory and complete inventory transactions.
  • Clean up as needed and also at the end of the shift.
  • Training new employees on proper procedures and techniques.
  • Relieve other operators for breaks as needed.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Serve on special project teams (Kaizen, 5S etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

Knowledge:

  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools and equipment used in this job include utility knife, razor knife, screwdriver, allen wrench, pry bar, hand cart, utility knife and forklift truck.
  • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Ability to use a digital weight scale.
  • Education/Training - High school diploma or equivalent; or up to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous material handler experience working in a manufacturing environment is desired. Certified forklift training (sit down and stand-up).

  • Control Precision - The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Multilimb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
  • Response Orientation - The ability to choose quickly between two or more movements in response to two or more different signals (lights, sounds, pictures). It includes the speed with which the correct response is started with the hand, foot, or other body part.
  • Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) to ensure part quality meets customer requirements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
  • Far Vision - The ability to see details at a distance.
  • Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Rate Control - The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene.
  • Reaction Time - The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Arm-Hand Steadiness - The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Static Strength - The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Trunk Strength - The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
