The Media Assistant documents life at camp through photo and video, maintains camp photo sharing platform, provides general support of the camp office, and assists with unit operations and supervision of campers assigned to the unit to provide a safe, fun, high quality Girl Scout camp experience for campers. Resident Camp employment is seasonal, with dates of employment approximately May-August.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Documents daily life at camp, unit photos and camper photos through photo and video, organizes photos and ensures proper storage of all electronic and printed images
• Maintains camp photo sharing platform, including; uploading photos and video according to established timeline, review of all photos for quality prior to posting, and any maintenance of photo sharing platform
• Assists with maintenance of Facebook page as directed by Program Director or Senior Manager, Camping Program
• Assists with general office duties as assigned
• Assists in sustaining an environment which supports physical and emotional safety for campers and staff. Establishes and maintains good relationships with campers. Lives in a camper unit as assigned
• Assists with unit set up and preparations prior to the arrival of campers to ensure a prepared, welcoming environment for campers and parents each session. Assumes check-in duties as delegated
• Reviews unit roster and Camper Information Forms prior to the arrival of campers, maintains confidentiality of information, and assists in ensuring campers see health services staff as scheduled.
• Works with Unit Leader and unit staff team to coordinate staff schedules to ensure correct staff to camper ratios are maintained
• Assists in ensuring unit cleanliness, organization and maintenance to provide a safe and well-maintained environment for campers. Assists with the care and maintenance of unit supplies and equipment throughout the camp season. Assists Unit Leader in completing unit kaper charts and camper group assignments so that all campers share in unit kapers. Supervises and assists campers in completing kapers
• Assists with the cleaning, inventory and closing of the unit at the end of the camp season. Assists with camp closing and completes other closing tasks as delegated

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

If your position requires that you drive an average of one (1) day per week or more, you must possess a valid state drivers license and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

• Is required to talk and hear, stand and walk, and is frequently very active which often requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching.
• Is required to reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

EXPOSURES

Work is performed in a normal indoor environment with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and/or dust AND work is performed in an outdoor environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and/or dust.
