Job Description:
The Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice focuses on equity in the jazz field and the role that jazz plays in the larger struggle for gender justice. The institute celebrates the contributions women have made in the development of the art form as well as frames more equitable conditions for all pursuing careers in jazz in an effort to work toward a necessary and lasting cultural shift in the field.

The Media and Communications Assistant supports the Institute’s work by helping to develop and curate content in a diversity of media platforms.

This is a temporary position.
Job Responsibilities
  • Creates curated content for the Jazz and Gender Justice Institute’s digital media platforms
  • Assists the artistic director with copy editing and mixing,
  • Stores digital media, and other duties as assigned.
  • Works closely with the artistic director, managing director, and program coordinator to research, build, and execute the digital communication strategies for the Institute
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience using multiple social media platforms
  • Knowledge of basic audio production
  • Experience with score and part notation
  • Experience assisting mixing and copy editing
  • Experience or willingness to learn Adobe Express
  • Experience and strong familiarity with gender equity and jazz
  • Basic research skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
