PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, quality policy and goals of the Fresenius Vascular Care Group. The position will act as an assistant to the Physicians, RN's and Radiology Technicians in patient care and operating procedures. This position has frequent contact with patients, visitors, and the families of patients requiring effective communication skills and a helpful attitude.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues and/or in making recommendations.
  • Assists patients to the pre-op area and take initial vital signs. Assists in preparing the patient for surgical procedures, and assists physician with procedures while maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Sterilizes instruments and maintain quality assurance documentation. Cleans procedure room between patients.
  • Provides feedback to team members regarding operational processes, and provides feedback to supervisor for employee evaluations.
  • Initiate cost control initiatives and provide support of those in the facility
  • Acts as a subject matter expert to team and department
  • Contacts are frequently with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the function of the department or which may be of a sensitive nature.
  • Normally receives no instruction on routine daily work, and general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
  • May provide assistance to direct reports with more complex support tasks that require a higher level of understanding of functions, as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • May provide new hire training or remedial training as directed.
  • Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Position involves active work, including walking and/or standing for considerable lengths of time wearing a lead apron. Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. and transfer and position patients weighing up to 400 lbs. Must work under pressure and stressful situations. Exposure to communicable disease.
  • Little to no travel is expected for this position.

SUPERVISION:

  • None

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:

  • High School Diploma; Associate's Degree desirable or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified in CPR

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • 2 - 4 years related experience.
  • 1-2 years experience working in a hospital or surgical environment preferred. Clinical training helpful. Hospital or operating room skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of instrument sterilization techniques.
