SUMMARY:
Medical Assistants provide medical team support services that ensure that healthcare operations run smoothly. They are responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks, such as preparing patients and rooms for examination and performing medical team support tasks.
Medical assistants need excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
AGE/PATIENT POPULATION(S) SERVED:
Age of Patient Population Service: Adult (18 & older)
Population Served: Persons meeting criteria for substance use disorders with or without co-occurring psychiatric illness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Greet patients and assist with appointment flow.
2. Obtain vital signs, BAC, and UDS and assist with other tasks as necessary.
3. Provide support to other members of the department as needed.
4. Take or respond to telephone calls promptly to confirm appointments.
5. Coverage of front desk and backup lunch coverage for the Medical Services Coordinator.
6. Responsible for entering data into various electronic systems, as well as maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data.
7. Performs clinic front desk duties, including but not limited to, answering incoming telephone calls, obtaining and/or verifying patient information, patient check in/out, coordinate and facilitate accurate patient appointment.
8. Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and/or manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies.
9. Maintains stock of medical supplies as necessary.
10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Current:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in medical field
· At least 2 years previous experience working in medical field
· Knowledge of common medical terminology
· Excellent communication skills and phone etiquette
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Excellent customer service skills.
2. Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
3. Ability to operate a computer.
4. Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred.
5. Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
6. Excellent organization skills.
7. Ability to think independently and demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
8. Ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate with a variety of individuals positively.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand or sit for extended periods. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimum to high volumes of stress.
