Job Summary

The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing the patient accounts receivable and ensuring prompt payment in order to maximize revenue for the organization. Responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships, monitoring assigned AR, ensuring timely payments based on payment agreements, resolving balance concerns and assisting in resolution of escalated collection issues.

Role & Responsibilities

• Research and verify patient demographics, reference National Change of Address Database and contact patient if required.
• Ensure Practice Management system is up to date with all contact information.
• Make phone contact with patient or responsible party as patient balances age.
• Collect payment from responsible party and process through appropriate system.
• Present and offer payment options to resolve outstanding balance.
• Manage payment plans to ensure responsible party meets payment agreements.
• Initiate Final Demand letters and monitor progression of statements.
• Escalate non-compliance accounts to Leadership.
• Document all activities in Practice Management system.
• Transition accounts to Estate, Probate, Bankruptcy or Collections Agency as needed.
• Respond to phone calls regarding outstanding balances or responsible party questions.

• 2+ Years of Accounts Receivable experience.
• EOB knowledge and claims processing experience preferred.
• Experience working in high-volume environments, collections and billing in healthcare setting
