SUMMARY

The Medical Secretary/Front Desk will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the heart failure and transplant program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serve as practices liaison and administrative support for the heart failure and transplant program within the Medicine–Cardiology Department.

2. Monitor the physicians’ daily patient schedules. Serve as the contact for scheduling follow-up appointments for office visits and procedures; and obtaining referrals and verification coverage.

3. Review insurance information, obtain all necessary pre-certifications for procedures and other services, and obtain records and referrals information for patient appointments.

4. Verify patient information in Epic. Determine and collect insurance payments and co-payments.

5. Coordinate required patient documents to be scanned for Epic filing and designate to the appropriate personnel.

6. Assist Physicians and Nurse Practitioners as needed.

7. Conform to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines.

8. Ensure patient centered care by demonstrating behaviors that reflect a Culture of Service and will strive to meet the expectations of the “Seven Competencies”. The seven competencies for a “Wow” experience are as follows:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education, training and experience in a clinical practice setting.
Physical Requirements: Must have excellent customer service skills in a high pressure environment. Must be able to interact with all levels of staff and must have an understanding of patient confidentiality

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour
