ULSTER COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT IS ACCEPTING RESUMES FROM QUALIFIED PERSONS FOR THE POSITION OF

MENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST/COMMUNITY EDUCATOR

This part-time position provides a full range of psychotherapy and social work services for the Family and Child Advocacy Center (FCAC) and engages in community outreach and education activities in the areas of child sexual abuse prevention, sexual predator profiles and techniques, and other FCAC approved curriculum topics. This position requires an effective public speaker who has responsibility for conducting training programs specifically designed for professionals, community organizations and family members to recognize, prevent and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Work also involves planning, implementing and conducting short-term or long-term therapeutic activities as appropriate for victims of sexual abuse, domestic violence and/or serious physical abuse. General supervision is received from the Assistant Director of Social Services (FCAC) with considerable leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment. Supervision is not normally a function of this class. Does related work as required.

Candidates must meet the following Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field and two (2) years of full-time paid or its part-time equivalent, experience providing psychotherapy to victims of sexual abuse, domestic violence or physical abuse which included or was supplemented by one (1) year of experience in public speaking and developing presentations.

Special Requirement: Possession of current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW) issued by the New York State Department of Education at time of appointment.

COMPENSATION: $43.38 per hour
