Voices of Tomorrow (VOT) is dedicated to preserve immigrant & refugee children’s identity through culturally responsive child-focused programs. Improving the health and trauma –informed practices in both our programs, and within our own organization’s policies and practices, is quintessential to our mission.We are looking for a bi-cultural and bi-lingual, Home Visitor to join our efforts to bring this important work to our community. Candidates must be knowledgeable and/or from the community we serve. In addition, qualified candidates will have extensive experience in non-profits and working with children.This is a full-time position and will report to the Health Service Manager. This role will focus on conducting home visiting and case management and addressing behavioral health issues with families. This role will also maintain oversight of individual needs of children and facilitate any additional family support needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Mind, Body & Culture Home Visitor will have specific responsibilities that will include, but may not be limited to:Provide culturally appropriate care management services to assigned children and their families:Collaborate with families to develop goals and a family service plan.
Assist with housing, food sufficiency, budgeting, education, job training, advocacy, citizenship, and other areas as requested by the family.
Develop professional relationships with allied professionals, community and cultural specialists who may be of help to VOT children and their families.Prioritize bicultural bilingual referrals when requested by families
Provide introductions and warm handoffs to needed specialists.Work in a strengths and culturally sensitive manner to educate assigned children and their families through a reflective process to promote:Social and emotional development in young children.
Enhance healthy parent-child relationships.Early development of language.
Emotional regulation.
Address special needs.
Enhance a safe home environment.
Parental confidence.Work with families to:Request that selects homework assignments are video recorded for use in sessions and clinical supervision
Determine and document if children have regular medical and dental providers, and dates of last visits. If needed, teach families how to select healthcare providers.
Determine children’s medical, dental, nutritional, or mental health needs, including immunization status, current medications, allergies, and life-threatening conditions.
Teach families to advocate for their family’s health and safety needs.Teach families how to access health information on topics of interest to their family.
Provide support to ensure children’s health care needs are met.Document Home Visiting services for assigned child and family at VOT.Documentation includes the tracking of home visits, phone calls, electronic visits, referrals, screens, service provisions, treatment progress, plans for ongoing needs, and treatment completion.
Document and inform parents when health issues or developmental concerns are suspected or identified and make appropriate referrals.Document consultations with professionals and/or specialists about the needs of assigned children and their families.
Document Bi-Monthly guided interaction
Obtain and maintain current signed family consent forms for the provision of services, consent to use video recordings in clinical supervision, release of health information to VOT, health screenings or assessments, and other required information.Provide Mind, Body, and Culture training to teachers, parents, and others to assist with transitions between settings, recruitment of future staff or clients, program awareness, and other needs as requested by leadership.
Administer designated assessment and screening tools in diverse environments.Demonstrate and model clear communication skills and reflective practices with parents, teachers, childcare providers, and others.
Demonstrate familiarity with community resources available to childcare providers, staff, and families in the designated counties.
Comply with all required data collection, reporting requirements, activities, progress reports, and other required documentation within the designated timeframe
Develop and maintain a schedule for visits based upon the program needs.
Attend all required trainings, meetings, and webinars regarding the Mind, Body, and Culture Home Visitor Position and other professional development activitiesMaintain confidentiality in all areas of practice including staff, childcare providers, clients and their families
Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Preferred bachelor’s degree in a Mental Health, Health, Early Childhood Education, or related field
Preferred 1 year of work with young children and their families.Experience interacting with East African resources and businesses.
Bi-lingual ability in Somali and English required.
Ability to communicate effectively and relate sensitively to adults and children from diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups
Proficiency in oral and written English language
Proficiency with computer software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointAdditional expectations include:Demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural relevancy, and inclusion
Bilingual Somali/English
Must pass Department of Early Learning’s Portable Background Check (PBC).

Willingness to develop video recordings for marketing and educational purposes

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
