Apex MOHS Surgical Assistants are responsible for assisting with surgical procedures involving the removal of skin cancers and other skin tumors in a surgical setting as well as administrative tasks. Ideal candidates are certified in Medical Assisting This is a full-time hourly position located at two of our twelve locations throughout Northeast Ohio (MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL). We are currently offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for MOHS Surgical Assistants!

Qualifications*

• Certification in Medical Assisting or Licensed Practical Nurse
• Surgical or MOHS experience preferred
• Experience using an Electronic Medica Records system (EMR)
• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience taking vital signs
• Current up to date CPR certification
• Must be willing to work with a team and be able to function in a fast-paced work environment
• Must be able to travel to various Apex Skin locations on a regular basis

• Required Tuberculosis testing and Flu vaccination documentation.

Essential Functions*

• Performs initial patient assessment, evaluation, and health survey data
• Provide pre-and post-optative teaching for both patient and family members
• Prepping room, instruments, and patient for surgery or biopsies
• Assist during surgeries by administering anesthesia, handoff instruments & cut sutures

Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining patient consent and maintaining records and documentation

• Transcribes the entire visit and assures documentation of patient care is compliant.
• Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling appointments and follow-up appointments, maintaining and following up with patient biopsy results, answering phones, and scanning documents into the EMR.
• Monitor and complete lab documents, biopsy and culture book, telephone encounters, and team task box within the EMR.
• Maintains nursing practice consistent with OSHA, HIPPA, QA safety regulations.
• Assists with autoclave procedures and quality controls.
