Job Duties include:

Drive a variety of motor vehicles both on and off New York State property in order to transport people, material, and equipment as required

  • Map routes, itineraries, and points of call
  • Move or carry cargo onto, into, off of, or out of the vehicle operated
  • Move or carry cargo from the vehicle to the delivery or storage point
  • Post manifests, inventories, and other records of goods and people transported
  • Maintain vehicle records as per College directives
  • Monitor gauges and checks fluid levels and tire pressures, fuel vehicles, air to the tires
  • Wash vehicles
  • Inspect vehicles and note defects, notifying the College of repairs needed
  • Assist to deliver meals to students in isolation suites after 4 p.m. and weekends
  • Transport students to isolation
  • Transport students to scheduled doctor's appointments
  • Pick up students from emergency room/ hospital

  • Knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of vehicles operated.
  • Knowledge of the nature of cargo carried and any special handling required.
  • Knowledge of simple automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to physically operate assigned vehicles as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry crates, cartons, boxes, and other cargo onto and off of transport vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a New York State Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated, valid for a minimum of one year, a clean driving record, and be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds. Candidates will be required to complete the LENS Driving Certification.

The Campus Transport team is a part of the Residential Services department within the Division of Student Affairs at Alfred State. It is composed of a dedicated, student-oriented group of professionals who create an environment conducive to learning about oneself, community, and society. Conditions of Employment:

Verification of a New York State Driver's License will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. Failure to maintain a New York State Driver's License will result in removal from employment.
