Title: Music Director

Reports to: Pastor

Summary: The music director will provide leadership for all music ministries of Commerce
United Methodist Church. CUMC is offering a salary for this part-time position and paid vacation time. All qualified candidates interested in applying for the position should email a resume and cover letter to the Staff Parrish Relations Committee.

The Music Director will:

• Lead and direct the music ministries for Commerce UMC including but not limited to bell choir, chancel choir, praise band, and weekly hymns.
• Coordinate with Pastor and Worship Committee to ensure choir and music selections blend with message of the week.
• Recruit and train singers and choirs (adult & children) for Sunday worship and special event performances.
• Work to identify growth opportunities for Commerce UMC. This includes but is not limited to going to community events, reaching out to visitors and new members.
• Advise Trustees and Pastor on maintenance and repair of church owned music equipment
• Maintain accurate financial and attendance records.
• Maintain consistent communication. This includes confirming all events and programs with the church office calendar.
• Attend staff meetings, worship committee meetings, and Administrative Council meetings

(or provide report if unable to attend).

• Perform other duties as requested by the Pastor or Staff Parish Relations Committee

Qualifications:

• A strong Christian faith.
• Approachable and easy to work with.
• Able to work with multiple generations and those with varying levels of musical ability.
• Demonstrate a strong musical skill set and proficiency in piano. This includes the ability to play a variety of musical instruments, sing, read music, and help develop the musical potential of band and choir members.
• Qualified candidates should possess a desire and ambition to move the music quality in a direction that lends itself to a rich, experience based worship service.
