Company Overview:

Insteel Industries is the Nation's largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. We manufacture and market prestressed concrete strand ("PC strand") and welded wire reinforcement, including engineered structural mesh ("ESM"), concrete pipe reinforcement and standard welded wire reinforcement.

A machine operator is commonly expected to know how his/her equipment operates and be able to identify and repair simple mechanical problems like stalls or jams. Workers hired into this position will be trained to eventually operate various machines and learn processes related to manufacturing steel wire products. Mechanical and analytical skills are required for this job. Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred, but not required.

This position will work core hours of Monday through Thursday from 6:45 PM until 7 AM (12 hour shift).

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Practices safe work habits as an individual and with co-workers.
• Works effectively in a team environment.
• Adheres to guidelines related to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Knows safety equipment and is aware of machine safety procedures.
• Knows and understands basic mechanical processes and equipment function principles.
• Conducts equipment inspections for proper operation and mechanical integrity.
• Assists in the repair and maintenance of machines and facilities as required.
• Documents production information on tally sheets and makes basic production entries into the computer.
• Must understand basic mathematical principles and have knowledge of measurement processes such as length, diameter, weights, and counts.
• Assumes duties of other operators as required and assists in other areas of the facility as needed.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent. An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
