NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD/TRADES APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

ANNOUNCEMENT PERIOD: DECEMBER 1ST 2022 – January 15th 2023

Norfolk Naval Shipyard is accepting applications for its 2023 Apprenticeship Program from December 1st, 2022 to January 15th, 2023; with a starting pay of $16.05 - $17.69 per hour depending on the trade. The four-year program offers selected candidates a chance to earn a competitive salary while they learn a trade.

Interested Applicants must submit Virginia Placement Test (VPT) results dated between January 1st, 2021 and January 15th, 2023 along with resume.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

You must attach most recent resume with full contact information (name, full address, personal email, and phone number)

You must attach your Virginia Placement Test (VPT) dated between January 1st, 2021 and January 15th, 2023. THE "PLACEMENT BASED UPON RESULTS" MUST SAY FOR MATH: Eligible for Math 111. FOR ENGLISH: ELIGIBLE FOR ENF3, EDE 11 OR ENG 111. (SCAN AS PDF OR WORD FILE AND ATTACH SCORES WITH THE RESUME.)

Must be a US Citizen and be eligible to work in the U.S.

Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana).

Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination.

Obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Virginia Placement Test:

The test results determine eligibility for the program. EVERYONE who wants to apply to NNSY’s Apprenticeship Program MUST participate in the college’s Placement Testing Program dated between January 1st, 2021 and January 15th, 2023.

You must print a copy of your test scores after completion of the test before exiting your exam and speak to the proctor about your scores.

YOUR TEST RESULTS MUST BE ATTACHED TO YOUR APPLICATION. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN AN INELIGIBLE RATING.
