Nurse Aide

Colonial Heights and Gardens, a not for profit retirement community located in Florence, Kentucky, is seeking a competent, reliable and caring individual for this very important position. SUMMARY

Cares for residents in Personal Care facility (Colonial Gardens), under direction of nursing and medical staff, by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Each shift has a specific orientation procedure.

Answers signal lights, pagers or intercom system to determine residents' needs.

Bathes, dresses, and undresses residents. Reports to supervisor any abnormal skin conditions.

Assists residents with dressing as indicated on N.A. flow sheets.

Assist with other activities of daily living as needed such as oral hygiene, skin care, etc...

Make beds of those residents unable to do so, also on N.A. flow sheets. Clean up apartment as needed including emptying garbage cans, washing dishes, etc.

Pick up laundry as scheduled. Put away laundry after it has been laundered.

Empty bedside commodes at the beginning of each shift as needed. Empty urinals as needed.

Transports residents or assists residents to walk as needed to dining room, etc.

Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in dining room. Serve trays in apartments to residents not coming to the dining room. Wear hairnets during any food preparation. Clean up work area after each meal. Set up dining room for next meal. Monitor food and liquid intakes at mealtimes on all residents and record on N.A. flow sheet.

Inform residents of scheduled activities and encourage participation. Assist residents to activities as requested.

Report any changes in resident to supervisor. Report any unsafe conditions to supervisor.

Acts in a courteous, professional manner at all times.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
