The starting base rate of pay for the Nursing Assistant is $18.67. Candidates with experience may be brought in at a higher rate of pay.

The schedule for this position will be working 32 hours every two weeks on the evening shift (2pm-10:30pm), 8 hour shifts, rotating weekends. Rotating Saturday and Sunday off premise call from 9am - 5:30pm.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
Supports smooth operation of department by preparing patients for surgery, cleaning OR rooms between patients, and ensuring adequate supply availability. Assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care; transports equipment as requested; maintains order of the department utility areas, storage areas, hallways, and other delegated areas under the direction of a registered nurse.

Facilitates OR room turnover.
  • Performs cleanup of OR.
  • Readies OR for next patient.
  • Procures equipment.
  • Properly cares for equipment and takes action for preventive maintenance.
  • Transports specimens and blood products.
  • Transports dirty case carts to decontamination area.

Provides Patient Care:

  • Assists in transfer/positioning of patients.
  • Assists with preparation of patients for surgery.
  • Transports patient.
Maintains Inventory Control.
  • Orders and manages supplies as directed.
  • Restocks department with supplies.
  • Makes rounds to keep current inventory in stock.
  • Communicates supply issues to appropriate person.
Qualifications:

Required

License/Certification/Registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants are required to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program

AND ONE or more of the following:

Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program.

OR

Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)

OR

Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program

OR

Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
NOTE: Individuals who have completed a Nursing Assistant program and are scheduled to take the NA Registry exam will be granted 90 days post hire to become active on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry.
