Position Summary:
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing occupational therapy services to homebound patients in accordance with agency policies. The OT Plan of Care is provided under the direction of the attending physician, in participation with the family, nurse or supervision of the Therapy Coordinator and in accordance with other agency health care personnel.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Documents treatment and consultation and maintains current records consistent with Occupational Therapy Standards of Practice, third party payor regulations and agency policies and procedures.
2. Assists the physician in evaluating level of function and developing the plan of treatment including specific procedures and modalities to be used and the amount, frequency and duration of treatment.
3. Performs occupational therapy procedures as medically prescribed; must have functional ROM, adequate communication skills and ability to lift 20 pounds without difficulty. Must be able to transport to and access patient’s home.
4. Teaches appropriate treatment procedures and supportive activities to patient and family members. Re-enforces with descriptive written instructions.
5. Interprets the medically prescribed occupational therapy plan of treatment for the patient and family.
6. Relates all exercises into functional activities or activities of daily living, whenever possible.

- Current certification by the AOTCB (American Occupational Therapy Certification Board) or NBCOT Registration in Occupational Therapy (OTR).
- Current registration as Certified Occupational Therapist under Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists.
- Current Michigan driver’s license and proof of valid automobile insurance.
