On Site Mechanical Designer/Drafter Job at Recycling Equipment Manufacturing
POSITION SUMMARY
Prepares working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches and notes for engineering or manufacturing purposes according to dimensional specifications: Calculates and lays out dimensions, angles, curvature of parts, materials to be used, relationship of one part to another, and relationship of various parts to entire structure or project, utilizing knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, manufacturing technology, and related physical sciences. Creates preliminary or final sketch of proposed drawing, using computer-assisted design/drafting equipment. Modifies drawings as directed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete drawing packages and markups under the direction of the Sales/Engineering person.
- Research information to complete drawing, layout, and design including technical specifications.
- Assist in reviewing engineering drawings and design under the direction of Sales, Engineering, and Production.
- Follow established processes and uses available tools.
- Complete assigned work and submit within timelines and a high level of quality.
- Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve applicable processes.
- Interfaces with sales and production while working in a shop environment.
TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND COMPETENCIES:
- Associate degree in Mechanical Design or relevant discipline or possess equivalent experience.
- Strong computer, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and procedures.
- Ability to conceptualize and create designs.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.
- Ability to learn concepts and technical details of products.
- Ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Demonstrated competency in AUTOCAD, Solidworks, and Microsoft Office (with emphasis on Excel).
- Willing to travel as needed.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
