Purpose of the Position: The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the Operations Department including optimizing Cost, Quality, Service, Safety, and Morale at the Plant. Will direct and coordinate other regular daily activities of receiving, oiling, batching, staging, mixing, and packaging ensuring efficient production of quality products.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

- Plans operations to coordinate with master production schedule and other shifts activities to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in time, cost & effective manner.
- Oversees and follows up on overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Executes and fulfills weekly manufacturing plan.
- Coordinates operations activities with Quality Systems, R&D, Engineering, Customer Service and Planning to improve efficiency and quality.
- Actively participates in the company continuous improvement program @ GCI, kaizen events.
- Actively participates in the Employee Safety Committee.
- Evaluates and recommends improvements in methods, procedures, and processes.
- Ensures that Good Manufacturing Practices and Audit requirements are met.
- Manages production team safety including training material definition, training support and accident investigation.
- Works with Engineering and Maintenance to manage installation and startup of capital projects.
- Manages two supervisors across two productions shifts.
- Guides, educates, coaches, develops and motivates work group to achieve required human safety, food safety, and production results.
- Closely monitors mixing and packaging operations to ensure that schedule attainment, efficiency, and quality goals are met.
- Supervises the production activities to achieve goals, directly or through supervisors.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Oversees and is responsible for production employees being appropriately trained on operating, safety, and quality procedures.
- Is responsible for addressing associate complaints and resolving problems; works with and coaches supervisors to do the same.
- Is responsible for tracking and managing open headcount and overall staffing needs for Production department.
- Is responsible for working with Production leadership team and HR to interview, select, and hire new team members as well as onboard and coordinate new employee’s training.
- Is responsible along with the Training Coordinator for designing and implementing a proper training program for production employees.
- Is responsible for managing the overtime assignment and utilization, supporting production plan and budget goals
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and/or Continuous Improvement roles
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related management experience, including overseeing supervisors and managing a multi-departmental manufacturing/ production operation
- Food or beverage production experience strongly preferred
- Previous experience working in a Lean environment required; other technical knowledge about food safety and employee safety is desired
- Experience designing and driving process improvement in a food (or similar) manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Ability to read, interpret and explain documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
