We are seeking a qualified PACU Nurse to administer care to Ambulatory Surgery Center patients in an ENT, outpatient setting. Perform assessments and Interventions. The PACU nurse will provide care for post-operative patients recovering from general anesthesia. Lunch is provided for all staff every surgery day! *We currently do not require COVID vaccinations for employment.*

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse License
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Prepare for the arrival of patients to the surgery center by making sure that all required documentation and testing have been performed and received.
  • Review patient charts for health history, make sure consent has been obtained
  • Assess, educate with post-op instructions and prepare patients prior to surgery
  • Take Vital signs and review the medical history with the patient before surgery
  • Start IVs
  • Assess patient's post-operative condition
  • Go over post-op instructions
  • Monitor vital signs and other measures of progress meeting discharge criteria
  • Chart all data in the patient file
  • Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience
  • Monitor patients for any change in condition and reporting all changes to the Physician and anesthesiologist.
  • Inventories all items both pre- and post-operatively.
  • Perform any interventions needed for post-operative emergencies
  • Performs administrative duties pertinent to position (ie. daily documentation of missing paperwork, monthly report, other as directed)
  • Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others. Take action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety.
  • Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patients in the immediate postoperative/ post-anesthesia period.
  • Reports to DON/Administrator

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Candidate must possess general clinical competency in acute patient care
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care for patients of various age groups.
  • Able to make decisions quickly
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Make judgements on/respond to disasters/emergencies
  • Surgical services procedures and safety requirements
  • Maintain a friendly, positive, caring, and professional attitude with all patients, physicians, and staff members
  • Efficiency and attention to detail
  • Effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
  • Good understanding of current Medicare Compliance, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations
  • Understanding of EMR/EHR
