Your Role:

The Parks and Recreation Aide ($15.00 per hour)– Recreation Center staff duties could include, but not be limited to:

Planning, leading and supervising diversified recreational programs and services including activities for all ages in a multi-use recreation center;

Greet customers and monitors program areas

Enforce facility policies and procedures

Physically sets up rooms including tables, chairs and recreation equipment

Assist with preschool, youth, teen and adult populations

May assist where needed to help build a comprehensive fitness program and wellness activities

May transport patrons in a city vehicle

Assist with monitoring facility areas such as gyms and game rooms

Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

Minimum Requirements:

MINIMUMS: Must be at least 16 years old, some high school or GED plus at least 240 hours of related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Some positions may require a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina drivers license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV drivers license eligibility requirements.

This pool of applicants may fill positions for multiple locations.
The individual selected for this position will be housed at a primary site but may be scheduled between other park sites/facilities. Schedules will be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on events, facility coverage, and weather.

This position will be scheduled to work 2-3 evenings a week and 2-3 weekends a month, at one of our recreation centers

Average scheduled hours up to 27 hours per week. Centers are a 7 day a week operation, opening very early in the morning and on weekends.
Some assignments may require overtime or split shifts to cover operational needs.
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours or maybe be relocated to another location or job assignment in response to short- term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies including weekends, evenings and holidays.
