Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

What you will do in this role:

Obtain vital signs on patients (per unit policy and frequency) and report abnormal results to nurse co-assigned to patients.

Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, cleans wounds, answer call lights, and monitor vital signs.

Perform safe patient handling that may include turning and positioning, use of specialty beds, patient transfer, assistance walking, oxygen use, and suction use.

Assist the RN collecting data from patients on admission, for patient processing ad discharge preparations as instructed.

Assist patients with performing activities of daily living to include bathing, shaving, oral care, toileting, grooming, changing linens, providing water, assisting with meal delivery when needed.

What qualifications you will need:

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License from the State of Florida

High School Graduate.

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification through the American Heart Association

Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant program through a vocational school. Must successfully complete JFK Medical Center's orientation

Customer service abilities including effective listening skills

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
