About this position

The Patient Escort provides safe transfer and transport of customers who may include infants, children, adolescents, adults and elderly adults, to and from various areas throughout the medical center in a timely manner. Maintains efficient flow of equipment and ensures its cleanliness and safe operating condition.


What we’ll expect from you

  • Transports customers who require single or multiple person transports throughout the North Memorial Health Hospital campus including the Robbinsdale Medical Building with appropriate assistance, using a wheelchair or cart, along with accompanying equipment, following organizational and department policies.
  • Transfers and/or assists unit staff in transferring customers to and from beds, carts and wheelchairs.
  • Properly identifies all customers, following NMH policy and procedures.
  • Observes and/or reports unusual clinical signs and/or changes in customer condition to customer's unit caregiver.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe environment as an integral part of the quality of customer care services.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Lead Role must meet qualifications of Environmental Services Aide and Patient Escort positions as listed on applicable job descriptions in addition to meeting qualifications and performing duties for lead as indicated on the Lead Qualifications & Defined Duties document.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Patient Escort experience preferred.
• Nursing Assistant experience preferred. • Ability to transport self and customers throughout the hospital.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication using English language sufficient to perform functions of positions.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and the ability to navigate various software programs.
Lead Escort:
  • Have an understanding of working in Windows Excel program.
  • Demonstrates ability to set priorities and problem solve.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize, work independent, be detail oriented, handle frequent interruptions and present a positive professional image.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and technical skills.
  • Ability to handle numerous incoming phone calls
