Job Summary
Denver Health Medical Center is recruiting for a Pediatric Hospitalist to join our Inpatient Pediatrics team. As a member of the Department of Inpatient Pediatrics, the Pediatric Hospitalist provides care to hospitalized patients on the General Pediatrics ward, Well Baby Nursery, and PICU/NICU stepdown unit. The Pediatric Hospitalist has an academic appointment through the University of Colorado School of Medicine (UCSOM) and provides clinical teaching and supervision of pediatric residents from Children’s Hospital Colorado and UCSOM medical students. The Pediatric Hospitalist also participates in department quality improvement, patient safety, educational, clinical research, and/or administrative activities for the benefit of the patients and families served by the Department of Inpatient Pediatrics.

Responsibilities

1. Provides direct clinical care for patients served by the General Pediatrics Ward, Well Baby Nursery, and PICU/NICU stepdown unit 2. As-needed back-up for delivery room attendance and supervision of Nursery residents and APPs 3. Supervises and teaches residents and medical students in the care of patients admitted to the General Pediatrics and Well Baby Nursery Teams 4. Performs and teaches procedural skills that are within the pediatric hospitalist scope of practice based on Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) Core competencies 5. Participates in administrative activities necessary for the provision of patient care and routine department operations (e.g., timely documentation, staff meeting attendance, etc.) 6. Contributes to attainment of department goals, including key clinical process and outcome measures 7. Leads quality improvement, educational, clinical research, and/or administrative activities and projects to enhance care delivery for hospitalized children

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience Minimum 2 years post-residency pediatric inpatient acute care experience, preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1. Expertise in caring for hospitalized children with common pediatric clinical diagnoses and conditions, as specified in the PHM Core Competencies 2. Excellent clinical teaching and mentorship skills 3. Desire for life-long learning and ability to enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs and review of current literature 4. Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and/or clinical research methodology with identified interest areas 5. Commitment to individual productivity, efficiency, and resource stewardship Education & Certifications Board Certification in Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospital Medicine, required BLS, PALS, and NRP, required
