JOB SUMMARY:

PSG is seeking a to fill part-time and/or full time positions for a Peer Support Specialist in our Kenosha mental health clinic. The Peer Support Specialist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to individuals with a history of mental health concerns and/or substance use to help promote long-term recovery and prevent relapse. The Peer Support Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. The position services adults and youth referred through the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) in Kenosha County. The position also supports and assists consumers in working toward their individualized recovery goals. The Peer Support Specialist participates in Recovery Team Meetings and works within a multi-disciplinary team to help consumers in their recovery journey.

LOCATION & HOURS: Position is based in our Kenosha, WI clinic. Hybrid model of time spent at the office and meeting in-person with clients out in the community, with some flexibility to work remote for documentation and paperwork. Hours may vary but are typically during business hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional evenings to meet consumer's availability needs.

SALARY: $15.00-21.00 per hour, depending on experience and education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate as an integral part of the person’s identified recovery team.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and support providers of family teams.
  • Provide recipients with information and insight about recovery.
  • Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate in school, the community and during emergency and crisis situations.
  • Provide support groups to interested service recipients.
  • Provide support in connecting service recipients with community organizations and support groups.
  • Safely transport clients as needed.
Requirements:
  • Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • At a minimum must possess a High School Diploma, but a Bachelors Degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with adults and youth with mental illness and/or substance use disorders is required.
  • Must be certified through the State of Wisconsin as a Peer Support Specialist.
