Job description
JOB SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for the receiving, processing, and review of all permits for completeness, accuracy and compliance with City policies and procedures; maintaining permit data and records; and assistance to other permits processors and the Permits Manager as needed. The ability to effectively communicate with staff and the public is essential.
MAIN JOB DUTIES
- Provide customers with information regarding permit requirements, policies, procedures, and
the application process.
- Respond to inquiries from owners, contractors, developers and public concerning building codes
and permit regulations over the phone.
- Perform frequent customer service work on the phone as liaison for the Building Departments.
- Reviews permit applications for completeness, accuracy and compliance with City procedures.
- Maintain a list of pending permits and current status.
- Route and monitor permit applications and plans to city departments, consultants, and other agencies.
- Research application status and record and log permit activities.
- Update permit records and files
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
- Strong ability to persist and follow up, to close permits.
- Architectural permitting experience with cities in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. (Preferred).
- Knowledge of permit management, planning/ building regulations. (Preferred)
- Must have computer skills.
