POSITION: Year-Round, Professional Pet Sitter/Dog Walker

STATUS: Part-Time, Contractor.

DESCRIPTION: Christine’s Professional Pet Care offers pet owners a personalized, flexible and safe alternative to boarding, kenneling or calling upon family or friends to care for their pets. In this position you will travel to a client's home to provide dog walking or in-home pet sitting services to primarily dogs and cats, but may also care for other animals such as birds, cage pets, farm animals or fish.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Seeking mature, reliable adults with extremely flexible schedules. Must have own reliable transportation, and be available year-round. Seeking only individuals who are interested in a long-term opportunity. Previous pet sitting experience preferred, but not required. Pet ownership experience is required.. A full background check will be performed prior to hire.

COMPENSATION: $13.00-$15.00 per visit depending upon experience, etc.

SHIFTS: Pet care assignments vary from day-to-day, so one must have an extremely flexible schedule and be readily available. Looking for mid day dog walking. Mid day walking hours generally occur between 10am-2pm. Also, looking for pet sitting and cat care, times will vary for those visits.

CLIENT LOCATIONS: Including, but not limited to: Woodbury, Cottage Grove, Lake Elmo and Afton. Applicant must live in one of the service area locations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

~ Must be a TRUE pet lover, dependable, responsible, reliable, trustworthy, professional and comfortable interacting with pet owners and the general public.

~ Pet Sitting visits are primarily performed for clients on vacation or traveling for business. Visits are typically 20-45 minutes in length and often occur at roughly the same time each day to keep continuity for the pets. For example, most cat sitting assignments consist of 1-2 visits per day, while dog sitting assignments can range from 2-3 visits per day.

~ Dog Walking occurs within a 2 to 3-hour window of time during midday hours. Dog walks range in length from 20-45-minutes

~ Must be willing to consider all types, lengths and frequency of assignments.

~ Must be in good physical condition to perform the requirements of the job which include, but are not limited to bending, walking and lifting up to 40 lbs. Must be physically able to walk/handle all sizes of dogs.

~ Must have reliable transportation with appropriate automobile insurance coverages. Assignments will typically be within a 13-mile radius.

~ During a Pet Sitting assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, feeding pets, providing TLC and playtime, cleaning up any messes and scooping litter boxes or disposing of waste. Mail and newspaper retrieval, setting out trash cans, rotating lights and blind/curtains, along with light houseplant watering may also be part of the job duties if requested by the client.

~ During a Dog Walking assignment, The activities will be walking/exercising dogs, ensuring potty breaks occur during all types of weather conditions. Other duties may include refreshing water, wiping paws and giving treats. You will only walk multiple dogs if they are from the same family. You must have access to rain/snow gear and feel comfortable driving/walking in the same. Occasionally clients are home ill or working from home. You must be comfortable performing the job in these situations.

~ You will be required to send texts at each visit. Thus, must have a personal cell phone with texting and email access.

~ You must be comfortable holding keys to a client's home while on assignment and take responsibility to not misplace keys.

~ You may, on certain occasions, be asked to attend new client consultations (with business owner) and also may be asked to fill in for other team members that are unable to complete an assignment.

~ You will need to check in regularly with the business owner to confirm all duties have been completed to the client's specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

- You must have reliable access to a vehicle. You will not be able to walk, bike or use public transportation to the pet visits.

- A genuine love for all animals, regardless of age, species, breed, size, medical condition.

- A high level of integrity, responsibility and professionalism.

- Ability to be on-time, manage time wisely, along with ability to be flexible. A wide array of availability is helpful, although we are willing to work around your schedule if you have another job.

- Excellent communication skills and tools (a smartphone is required).

- High level of organization and detail.

- Must easily pass a criminal/background check and have a valid driver's license.
