Fetch! Pet Care of Charlottesville is seeking Pet Sitters to service Albemarle, Fluvanna, and Greene Counties. Our pet sitters spend their time dog walking, pet sitting, playing, and caring for pets on a flexible schedule! With the support of the Fetch! ESSENTIAL DUTIES HIGHLIGHTS

• Responsible for all basic pet care as requested by our clients (i.e. dog walking, playing with cats, cleaning up after pets, simple pet grooming, administer medication)
• Meets with clients to gather pertinent pet care information and discuss requested duties.
• Providing regular updates to clients using the MyFetch! app, which includes taking photos and logging journal entries within 1 hour of completing each job.
• Must compassionately complete all aspects of pet care, but keeping pets safe at all time is of utmost importance.
• Anticipates issues that may arise (i.e. unexpected sick pet, avoiding conflict with pets from other households) and proactively problem solve.
• Completes all aspects of home care (i.e. keeping the client’s home safe at all times, checking mail, watering plants)
• Safely transports pets to scheduled appointments, as requested by client.

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Understanding of animal behavior
• Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills, knowing you’re the communicative link for the client on the pet’s behalf
• Ability to exercise good judgement, problem solve, and multi-task
• Excellent time management skills
• Proven track record of reliability and consistency
• Provides comfort and care for both the pets and clients using empathy
• Love and patience for animals of all kinds

MUST HAVE

• Prior pet care experience
• High School diploma or educational equivalent
• Must be able to travel locally to client homes with your own reliable transportation
• Ability to successfully pass a background check, including a clean driving record, and other pre-employment screening
• 18 years of age or older for regular pet sitting duties
• 21 years or age or older for additional pet transport duties
• Must be able to provide pet care in all types of weather
• Must own a smartphone with internet, texting, photo, email, and GPS capabilities and be able to use it accurately
• Must have a flexible schedule and understand that the job is “as needed” without a guaranteed number of hours

GREAT TO HAVE

• Knowledge of administering pet medication such as pills or injections
• Familiarity with disabled pets and/or animal physical therapy
• Marketing experience to attract & retain clients
