Location: BETSY JOHNSON HOSPITAL, DUNN, NC
Position Summary:
Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs. Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests. Assists customers (inpatient and/or outpatient) by answering simple questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information. Cleans and helps maintain equipment and work areas. Orders, labels, and counts stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies. Works with automated dispensing system. Orders, receives, and stores incoming supplies, verifies quantities against invoices, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages. Perform IV aseptic compounding per USP standards. Perform extemporaneous compounding as directed by pharmacist. May be assigned to a specific program, such as Health and Welfare Trust Fund. Other duties as specified by pharmacist.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Six-months to one-year work experience as a pharmacy technician preferred. Completion of a formal or NCBOP approved pharmacy technician program preferred, but not required. Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP) within 30 days of hire required. Good communication skills with all customers of the health system. Detailed oriented with an inherent quality for accuracy when performing activity within the department. Ability to work in a team environment.
Required Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Certified Pharmacy Technician - within 30 days of hire

Preferred Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

• Diploma or Certificate Program Pharmacy Technology

Other Information:
Perform repetitive motion including bending, twisting, stooping, pushing and pulling and must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds. Must be able to see and read physician orders, medication labels, etc., and have manual dexterity to use computer systems. Ability to stand for long periods of time and ability to climb one to two flights of stairs as needed.
