POSITION:

General Education/Physical Fitness Education Teacher in a Physical Education Program

The number of positions is subject to funding availability

ELIGIBILITY:

New York City and/or New York State licensed, tenured teachers currently in service.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

· Satisfactory, Effective, or Highly Effective rating over 3 consecutive years

• Bilingual Candidates are Strongly Encouraged to Apply

· Satisfactory record of attendance and punctuality

· Degree or courses in Physical Education or Health Sciences

· Full-time Physical Education and Health teaching experience with the New York City Department of Education

· Ability to work cooperatively with staff

· Training in implementing Conflict Resolution Program

· Experience in Peer Education – Nutrition

· Experience in teaching grades PreK – 6

· Effective oral and written communication skills

· Experience coordinating and coaching sports teams

· Training in CPR and the use of the Automatic External Defibrillator

· Demonstrated ability to differentiate Physical Education instruction to meet the needs of all learners

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintain up-to-date lesson plans throughout the year

· Provide physical education instruction to students PreK – 5

· Integrate writing into all health activities

· Provide Health Education instruction including sex education and drug awareness education

· Coordinate gym programs

· Organize, plan and conduct inter/intra school games among students and staff

· Coordinate special events; Health Fairs, Hoops and Jump for Heart, etc.

· Model lessons for colleagues in Physical Education, exercise techniques, and movement for children

· Order and maintain inventory of P.E. equipment

· Maintain up-to-date bulletin boards

· Willing and able to attend district and city meetings

· Responsible for marking report cards

· Provide health education support with a print rich gymnasium

· Maintain class discipline, follow-up, feedback and documentation

· Implement FIT FOR LIFE activities

· Maintain a marking book with biweekly student evaluations

· Initiate parental contacts

· Implement Conflict Resolution Activities

· Conduct parental workshops during the school day

· Maintain up-to-date student folders and portfolios

· Perform duties as directed by Principal, for the success of the school

SALARY: WORK HOURS:

As per UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement. As per UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement

Pay: From $59,841.00 per year
