JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Director of Physical Therapy, Dietary Supervisor, and Staff Physical Therapist the Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant treats residents as directed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work under the direction and supervision of physical therapists to:
• Observe patients before, during and after therapy, noting the patient's status and reporting it to a physical therapist
• Help patients complete specific exercises as part of the plan of care and treat patients using a variety of techniques, such as massage and stretching
• Use specialized devices and equipment to assist patients
• Serve as a liaison to residents, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan for residents' needs
• Record patients' progress and report the results of each treatment to the physical therapist, working with them to discuss and evaluate resident information for planning, modifying and coordinating treatment
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Current PTA license in NYS required
• Previous PTA experience preferred
• Experience in long-term care preferred
• Must be flexible, punctual, professional and reliable
• Strong customer service skills and compassion
• Vaccination required
