We are looking for an experienced plant environmental engineer to provide technical and regulatory environmental support to the plant manufacturing team at Van Dyke Electric Powertrain Center on a daily basis. In this role the environmental engineer is responsible for completing all required regulatory reports (air, water, waste, CO2, etc.) and responding to any agency inquiries. As a team player, you will collaborate with the Livonia Transmission Plant team and leadership as well as other plants and the corporate office to identify innovative ways to reduce water consumption, waste generation, and material usage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Graduate/Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Functional knowledge and experience with environmental regulations
  • Five or more years working in a manufacturing facility
  • Strong interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Provides day-to-day technical and regulatory support for environmental media/operational subjects (air, water, wastewater, waste tanks, materials, Environmental Operating System (EOS), ISO 14001, plant reports, decommissioning, remediation, permitting, regulatory communications, testing, plant audits, spill response, etc.)
  • Supports achievement of the SE&SE and Manufacturing business plan objectives and targets (compliance index, water, waste, energy, and hydrocarbon).
  • Develops accurate and complete correspondence (reports, permit applications, etc.) to support facility / manufacturing environmental compliance and business plan objectives and targets.
  • Tracks progress and spending on environmental capital and expense projects to ensure action items are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manages Total Waste Management Contract. Ensures waste is managed, stored and disposed of according to regulatory and corporate environmental requirements. Provides required environmental waste training to plant employees as required.
  • Supports technical aspects of environmental systems at facilities (Environmental Operating System, environmental reserves, facility decommissions, compliance assurance, manufacturing management reviews, etc...)
  • Utilizes environmental software applications to help achieve business plan objectives and targets.
  • Builds strong, productive working relationships with environmental professionals and manufacturing /non-manufacturing contacts throughout the Company at facilities and staff levels.
  • Effectively uses standard procedures and best practices to ensure facility / manufacturing environmental compliance to achieve business plan objectives and targets.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable national, regional, and local environmental requirements.
  • Represents Ford’s interests on environmental matters through interaction with external entities (local, regional, and national regularly agencies, community groups, trade and professional organization, non-governmental organizations, etc.)
  • Supports facility and product programs through necessary permit actions, capacity planning studies and environmental project funding requests.
  • Supports WWTP Operations to ensure regulatory requirements are met. Fundamental understanding of environmental rules and regulations
