Job Description and Qualifications
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an IMMEDIATE opening for an experienced Operations Tech at its Wilmington, CA facility.
($42.79 - $47.28, paid hourly)
PLUS overtime and bonus, level of pay based upon classification and experience
The Southern California refinery H2 facilities are located 2.3 miles from each other, and currently consist of two (2) SMR (steam methane reformers) units and associated equipment within the growing Los Angeles area H2 pipeline franchise.
Operations Tech are responsible for controlling and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen, which includes operating and controlling the following:
Within the Operations Tech role you will work hand in hand with Mechanical Technicians, Instruments Technicians, other Operations Tech’s, and Process Engineers to safely and efficiently maintain and operate the Hydrogen Plant(s), to include participating in the management of effective safety programs.

- Water Treatment Systems (Boiler and Cooling Water Systems)
- Steam Turbines for power generation
- Compressors
- DCS monitoring systems
- Rotating Equipment
- Catalyst Reactors
- Pneumatically Operated and Manual Valves
- Pressure Swing Adsorption skid
Within the Operations Tech role you will work hand in hand with Mechanical Technicians, Instruments Technicians, other Operations Tech’s, and Process Engineers to safely and efficiently maintain and operate the Hydrogen Plant(s), to include participating in the management of effective safety programs.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency
- Additionally Operations Techs will work to acquire a City of Los Angeles Steam Engineer (Boiler Operator) license if they do not already possess one.
- Be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts at either of the 2 facilities
- On limited occasions assist other AP sites in North America with Operations support.
- Being a dedicated team player, having a commitment to safety, and strong communications skills are a must.
