Performs a variety of assignments to assist East Lansing police officers and department activities at the police desk. Answers non-emergency phone calls and either assists or routes all incoming calls in a courteous and businesslike manner. Responds to general questions or requests for information, either in person or over the phone. May assist with auctions at the impound lot, help with prisoners in the jail; transport cars; take fingerprints or conduct preliminary breath tests (PBTs).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with current college coursework preferred; criminal justice coursework preferred. Ability to use senses and reasoning necessary to gather information under difficult circumstances. Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred. Ability to pass a thorough police criminal history background check.
