The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a PART member to join our Mobile Crisis program. The PART Member is a trained behavioral health specialist in the area of police operations who will respond to designated calls for service that do not require law enforcement, provide outreach, education, and connect members of the community to necessary supports and services. The clinician will function as part of a team and act as a conduit to Portland citizens, community outreach services and represent the Police Department in multiple settings.
This is a unique position in that brings together the fields of criminal justice and behavioral health with the goal of helping to increase safety and positive outcomes for those served. There will be opportunity to gain training and experience in de-escalation tactics, crisis assessment, and care coordination. Candidates will also learn more about the resources and challenges in the Portland community and develop a better understanding of the local criminal justice system.
This is a full time, 40 hour/week, hourly position located in Portland, ME.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science or equivalent education and work experience.
- Knowledge of the City of Portland, its social service resources, and demographics.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet operational demands.
- Exceptional written, oral, and platform presentation skills.
- Proven ability to work with socially diverse populations.
- Strong commitment to treating clients, as well as family and associates, with dignity and respect.
- Must pass background check.
- Valid State of Maine Class C Driver’s License
Pay is competitive and will be based on experience and education.
